Jokes aside, I assume you're talking about Wideman.
I don't think he's what this team needs, but if it was a straight-up swap I'd probably be ok with it. |

How many forwards do you have to move out? 16 signed according to cap geek, Carry 13 or 14 during the season? |

Exactly! Must be thoughts of others getting moved.
That being said if the cost is low why not? |

Dreger seems to think it would "cost a lot" to acquire Bailey. I'm not so sure. They have the youth and talent, he's seemingly a miscast piece in their lineup and if someone can jump on that before he improves, if at all, they'd make out like bandits. He's got a cheap cap hit, so if it doesnt pan out, doesnt cost much to carry him.
Some will argue that the Flames need to leave room for some of their own youth, but I truly believe that Bailey would automatically be better than some of the options which they have for the right wing, at his age. Never hurts to have more young talent. |

I have no problem with moving Wideman, but I think he is worth more than Bailey. I d hope for more in the return. Bailey is basically a 1st rnd bust. Still some potential there but what can be salvaged?
Another player we could look at in similar circumstances is Brett Connolly out of TBL. He's another young skilled player that's been pushed down the depth chart and TBL are over the cap.we could take on Brewer as our #7 Dman and Connolly for Hanowski or something along those lines, maybe even less. |

Boulton will be the 13th forward/press-box-dweller
Lee, sadly, will probably start the year in Bridgeport because he's waiver-exempt.
McDonald should be waived and sent down, assuming nobody claims him.
No idea about Bailey/Conacher.
It looks like it will shake out like this:
Nelson - Tavares - Okposo
Strome - Grabo - Kulemin
(Bailey/Conacher)* - Nielsen - Grabner
Martin - Cizikas - Clutterbuck
*If they were icing the best team, Lee would be in that spot. But his waiver-exemption is likely going to screw him. |

hmm not too bad, but this throws a wrench in my idea if you guys would want David Jones for your third line over Baily or Conacher. If you have Lee down in the minros bc of this, dont really need to take back another forward in a deal.
Really just need to get Wideman and anotehr asset out of any deal with the Flames. |

D. Jones makes no sense for Isles bc they already have 2 many F's plus looking to make room for Lee. Isles need at least 1 NHL Dman but wouldn't mind 2 if somehow that can be gotten. |

The problem is I don't think Wideman is what this team needs. His offensive production is declining and he never struck me as particularly deft defensively.
I wouldn't be upset if we traded Bailey for him but I don't particularly covet him either.
Frankly, I'd rather see Snow busting his ass to trade Grabner to the B's for Boychuk. I don't think that would be a 1-for-1 swap but that's the guy I'd kill to have in an Isles uniform. |

Bailey for Nyquist and a conditional 5th |
|

I like the idea of moving an expensive, probably past-his-prime Dman for a young forward with potential...however the big question is do the Flames have someone ready to jump in right away and log top 4 minutes?
If your top 3 is Gio, Brodie, Russell, and your bottom pairing is Smid & Engelland...who plays that 4 spot? Wortherspoon showed glimpses of top 4 potential last year, but he's very young. Haven't seen much of Sieloff so I don't know if he's NHL ready. Seems to me moving Wideman creates a big hole on D without an immedieate backfill replacement. |

Want 2 ask......
If K. Turris didn't get traded would he have been a career 3rd liner? Sometimes a change of scenery is whats needed for a young rushed F..... |

dont think they move Boychuk, they have cup or bust written all over that team. They need Johnny B for that. Hawks with Oduya could be interesting target. |

I actually think, under the right circumstances (linemates, style of play), Bailey can be an average 2nd line LW. |
